The tanker was undamaged after crashing into the Naval Weapons Station, the Coast Guard says – Latest US News Hub


GOOSE CREEK, SC (WCSC) – Coast Guard officials say a preliminary investigation into a tanker accident at the Naval Weapons Station indicates there was no damage to the cargo tanks and there was no contamination in the water.

Crews said the accident occurred around 5 pm Monday when the Bo Triumph, an oil and chemical tanker, crashed into the Wharf Bravo pier, causing “significant damage” to the pier, Coast Guard public affairs specialist Vincent Moreno said.

Lt. Cmdr John William Beal said after the accident the tanker hit Oddfjel SE, a company specializing in global marine transportation and chemical storage.

Bill said the tanker was partially loaded at the time of the accident.

No injuries were reported in the accident.

The incident remains under investigation by the US Coast Guard.
