These sacred Hindu temples remained in Pakistan after partition, one is related to ‘Mata Sati’ – Hindustan News Hub

Only 20 out of 428 temples remain

The survey report of All-Pakistan Hindu Rights Movement stated that at the time of partition, there were a total of 428 Hindu temples in Pakistan. However, over time many were destroyed and 408 of these temples were converted into toy shops, restaurants, government offices and schools. According to government estimates, as of 2019, 11 temples were operational in Pakistan’s Sindh, 4 in Punjab, 3 in Balochistan and 2 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Hinglaj Mata Temple

This is one of the oldest temples of Hindus located in Pakistan. Hinglaj Mata The temple is located in Hingol National Park in Balochistan, Pakistan. This temple is one of the 51 sites in Hinduism where the body parts of Goddess Sati fell. Every year thousands of devotees come to visit Hinglaj Mata Temple. It is also known as Hinglaj Devi, Hingula Devi and Nani Temple.

Katas Raj Temple

Katas Raj Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva is located near Chakwal area in Punjab province of Pakistan. This temple is considered to be about 1500 years old. There are a series of other temples here which are said to be from the tenth century. Mythological belief is that two tears fell from Lord Shiva’s eyes, one of which fell here.

Shri Panchmukhi Hanuman Temple

It is one of the most sacred religious places for Hinduism located in Karachi city of Pakistan which is dedicated to Lord Hanuman. According to the report of Sir Ganga Ram Heritage Foundation, Shri Panchmukhi Hanuman Temple is 1,500 years old, which is one of the oldest temples located in Pakistan.

One of the most sacred temples for worshipers of Hinduism, this site is located in the Kalka Hills of Aror in Sindh province of Pakistan. Located in a natural cave, this temple is dedicated to Goddess Kali. According to the people who take care of the temple, the Kalka Cave Temple has two tunnels that connect to the Hinglaj Mata Temple.

Shri Varun Dev Temple is located in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. This holy Hindu temple is situated on Manora Island. This temple is dedicated to Lord Jhulelal, who is also known as Varun Dev. The god Varuna is worshiped as a symbol of water in Hinduism.
