San Salvador/Athens: A strong earthquake has been felt in two countries of Europe and the American continent. An earthquake of magnitude 6.1 struck El Salvador, a country in the American continent, on Wednesday afternoon. This information has been given in a report of the US Geological Survey. However, there is no news of loss of life or property so far. Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele wrote on the social media platform ‘X’ that the earthquake, which struck 60 kilometers off the coast of the western region of La Libertad, shook most of El Salvador.
Two more tremors were felt after this earthquake, whose magnitude was 4.1 and 4.5. Tremors were also felt in neighboring country Guatemala. According to the report shared by Bukele, there was no threat of tsunami after the earthquake.
Magnitude 5.2 earthquake strikes Greece’s Crete island
Similarly, a major earthquake was felt in the European continent’s Greece. A 5.2 magnitude earthquake struck Crete in southern Greece on Wednesday. This caused panic among people. However, there is no immediate report of anyone being injured or damage. Officials gave this information. The Athens Geodynamic Institute said that the undersea earthquake occurred between Crete and Gavdos Island at 7:29 pm local time. Its depth was 11.6 kilometers.
