Ankara: Türkiye has been shaken by the terrible earthquake. It is being told that today a strong earthquake was felt in Eastern Turkey. Its intensity on the Richter scale is said to be 5.9. Panic spread among the people due to the earthquake. Officials said there was no immediate information about any damage due to the earthquake. But more information is being collected in this regard.
The 5.9-magnitude earthquake struck the town of Kale in Malatya province at 10:46 a.m., according to the government Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency, or AFAD. The earthquake’s impact was also felt in the nearby cities of Diyarbakir, Elazig, Erzincan and Tunceli, Haberturk television reported. “We have not received any information about any problems so far,” Malatya Mayor Sami Er told state news agency Anadolu.
Last year there was a strong earthquake in Türkiye
Turkish officials said the potential damage in remote areas was still being assessed. According to the news of ‘Haberturk’, people in the entire area came out of their homes and offices in panic.
