UAE Hind City: Al Minhad district of UAE renamed as Hind City
Dubai. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Ruler of Dubai, on Sunday renamed Al Minhad district and its surrounding areas as ‘Hind City’. Emirates’ official news agency WAM gave this information.
The city is divided into four sectors and houses residents of the United Arab Emirates. The city comprises four zones – Hind 1, Hind 2, Hind 3 and Hind 4 – and is spread over an area of 83.9 km, WAM said. Hind City is connected by major roads like Emirates Road, Dubai Al Ain Road and Jebel Ali-Lehbab Road.
The Al Minhad area and its neighboring areas have been renamed as ‘Hind City’ as per the instructions of the Ruler of Dubai. However, this is not the first time that the name of a place in Dubai has been changed. Earlier in 2010, Burj Dubai was renamed Burj Khalifa after Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the then President of the United Arab Emirates and ruler of Abu Dhabi. He died on May 13, 2022.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who renamed Al Minhad District as ‘Hind City’, is the Vice President, Prime Minister and Minister of Defense of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as well as the Ruler of Dubai. He is the third son of Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, former Vice President of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai.
After the death of his brother Maktoum in 2006, Mohammed took over as the country’s Vice President and Ruler of Dubai. Al Maktoum is recognized as ‘one of the world’s foremost real estate developers’.
