United Nations: The United Nations has also become crazy about India’s style and PM Modi’s working style. Denis Francis, the President of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, has openly praised India for this. He said that India has been an enthusiastic and committed supporter of multilateralism. Francis said that as the world’s largest democracy with a population of 1.4 billion, India has a bright future to continue making strong contributions to global affairs. Francis made these comments before the end of his one-year term as the head of this session of the 193-member United Nations General Assembly.

Francis said, “There is no doubt – India is certainly a leading country in the United Nations. India has been a passionate and committed supporter of multilateralism, which is greatly valued by the United Nations.” Former Cameroon Prime Minister Philemon Yang will take over as the President of the 79th session of the General Assembly on September 10. Francis said that he hopes that India’s role in the world body continues and gets stronger. He said, “We know that India has ambitions to become a permanent member of the Security Council. Members will decide on how they want to reform the Council, which countries will be best suited to represent member countries and how the division of powers will be done.

It is difficult to ignore India

“With India being a democracy with a population of 1.4 billion, I believe that no one can ignore the fact that India has a bright future to continue to make a strong contribution to global affairs,” Francis said. He said India has demonstrated “great commitment” as an advanced developing country in sharing its expertise with other developing countries in the Global South in the context of South-South cooperation, for which the Indian government should be commended.

Last week, India’s Permanent Representative-designate to the UN, Parthavaneni Harish, met Francis at the UN headquarters. In a post on X, Ambassador Harish said he benefited from Francis’ views on various issues of mutual interest. He also appreciated the support India received from the General Assembly during Francis’ tenure. (Language)
