Nobel Prize 2024: The announcement of the Nobel Prizes for the year 2024 has started from Monday. Under this, the names of the winners of this honor for the field of Physiology or Medicine were announced. This year, America’s Victor Ambrose and Gary Ruvkun have been awarded the Nobel Prize in Medicine. Both have been given this honor for the discovery of microRNA. This year’s award is the 115th Nobel Prize awarded in physiology or medicine since 1901. The 2024 Nobel Prize in Physics will be announced on Tuesday, followed by the Chemistry prize on Wednesday.

Earlier in the year 2023, the Nobel Prize in Medicine was given to Catalin Carico and Drew Weissman. He was given this honor for his discoveries related to nucleoside base modifications. This discovery helped in the development of effective mRNA vaccines against Corona virus i.e. COVID-19.

In 2022, Svante Pääbo of Sweden was awarded the Nobel Prize in the field of Physiology or Medicine. He was given this award for his discoveries related to the genetics (genome) of extinct hominins and human evolution.
