An Airports Authority of India spokesperson said on Saturday that there was no incident of fire or spark during this time. He said that the emergency declared at 10:39 pm was withdrawn at 11:08 pm. The spokesperson said that both the runways of NSCBI airport have been handed over to the Air Traffic Control (ATC) so that they can be made available for the safe landing of the aircraft. He said, “It has been found that after taking off, the left engine of the aircraft failed, due to which it had to return to Kolkata.”

Such incidents have happened before

Let us tell you that earlier an Air India plane flying from Mumbai with 135 passengers and crew had to land at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport. Actually, an emergency landing had to be done after receiving a bomb threat at the airport. Earlier, the plane had left Mumbai in the morning and while going to its destination, it received information about a bomb. The bomb threat was written on tissue paper in the toilet of the plane. After this, after receiving information about the matter, the traffic control unit had requested an emergency landing.
