Lok Sabha Election 2024: Lok Sabha elections may be held in the month of April-May 2024. All political parties are busy in election campaign. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP is in the race to come to power for the third time. At the same time, to stop the victory chariot of BJP under the leadership of PM Modi, the opposition parties united and formed INDIA block, which is disintegrating one by one. If we talk about Maharashtra in view of the Lok Sabha elections, there are 48 parliamentary constituencies. Among these seats, Mumbai North Central is also a high profile parliamentary constituency. There are a total of 6 assembly seats in this Lok Sabha constituency, which include Vile Parle, Kandivali, Kurla, Bandra East, Bandra West and Kalina.

What were the results of the last elections?

Currently, BJP leader Poonam Mahajan is the MP from Mumbai North Central Lok Sabha seat. Before 2014, this Lok Sabha seat was in the Congress’s favor. Priya Dutt, daughter of actor Sunil Dutta, was the MP from here on Congress ticket, but in 2014, she had to defeat BJP’s Poonam Mahajan in the Modi wave. Poonam Mahajan won big from here in 20214 and 2019 elections. In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Poonam Mahajan got 4,78,535 votes, while Congress’s Priya Dutt was limited to 2,91,764 votes. Poonam Mahajan had defeated Priya Dutt in 2014 by a margin of about 1 lakh 87 thousand votes. After this, in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Poonam Mahajan defeated Priya Dutt by a margin of 1 lakh 30 thousand votes.

Equation of castes on this seat

Mumbai North Central Lok Sabha seat is dominated by Muslim and Marathi voters. There are more than 4 lakh Muslims on this seat and the same number of Marathi voters. At the same time, there are 41 thousand Christians, 35 thousand Banias, 35 thousand Yadavs, 25 thousand Gujaratis, 50 thousand Brahmins and 50 thousand Thakurs.

Condition of assembly seats here

If we talk about the 6 assembly seats falling under the Mumbai North Central parliamentary constituency, the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance had won five seats in the 2019 assembly elections. Shiv Sena had won on three seats while BJP had won on two seats. Meanwhile, Zeeshan Siddiqui of Congress had won from Bandra East. However, now Zeeshan Siddiqui’s father Baba Siddiqui has joined Ajit Pawar faction of NCP from Congress. In such a situation, NDA can benefit from this in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
