Siddaramaiah spends 54 lakhs every month on social media, revealed in RTI reply

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s troubles in the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) alleged scam case are not reducing. There are even speculations of a change of Chief Minister in the state. Meanwhile, in response to an RTI, it has been revealed that CM Siddaramaiah spends Rs 54 lakh to handle social media accounts. He spends this much for both personal and official accounts.

According to the Times of India report, RTI activist Maralinga Gowda Mali Patil had filed an RTI seeking answers. When he came to know that the government does not have funds for many development works, he tried to find out why. The Chief Minister’s Office said that compared to former Chief Ministers, Siddaramaiah spends very little on social media. The previous Chief Minister’s expenditure was close to Rs 2 crore.

This information has been given by the government agency Karnataka State Marketing Communication and Advertising Limited (MCA). From October 25 last year to March 2024, CMO has spent around Rs 3 crore. According to the information received in the RTI, CMO has spent around Rs 53.9 lakh every month. This also includes 18 percent GST. This payment was made to a company named Policy Front which handles Siddaramaiah’s account. It has a team of about 35 people.

Let us tell you that Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot had given permission to prosecute CM Siddaramaiah in the MUDA alleged scam case. Since then, there is pressure on him to resign from the post of CM. However, Siddaramaiah has made it clear that he is not going to resign. On Saturday, Congress also took out a Raj Bhavan Chalo March. The purpose of this march was to put pressure on the Governor to reconsider the decision to approve the prosecution.
