Police blocked roads in Pakistan, demanded removal of army and ISI

These days there is tension between the police and the army in Pakistan. The police have gone on strike in north-western Pakistan. The police say that intelligence agencies and the army should be removed from this area. The police strike has been going on for five days. On 9 September, hundreds of policemen blocked the Indus Highway. This highway connects Peshawar to Karachi. The police staged this protest in Lakki Marwat of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. They said that the army interferes in their work.

Police officers from the surrounding districts also joined the protest. These included police officers from Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan and Tank districts. Many political parties also came forward to support the policemen. The protesting policemen said that the ISI and military intelligence agencies were spoiling the atmosphere of the area. Many of their colleagues have been kidnapped or killed by Taliban fighters.

He says that in the last few years, many policemen were kidnapped in Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan and Lakki Marwat. The families and homes of the policemen are also targeted. Let us tell you that this is probably the first time in Pakistan when such a large number of policemen have come out in protest.

A police officer said that the army should leave the district and let the police do their work. He said, we promise that peace will be restored in the area. Recently, a policeman was killed during polio duty. Recently, policemen lost their lives in terrorist attacks at many places in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. This year, about 75 policemen have been killed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
