Aamir wanted to leave Bollywood
Recently, Aamir Khan revealed in an interview that he had decided to quit Bollywood 3 years ago. The superstar made many shocking revelations in Rhea Chakraborty’s podcast ‘Chapter 2’. During the conversation, he talked about his family, children and his decision to quit films and told that three years ago he had decided to stop working in Bollywood.
Lockdown gave me time to understand my life
He told that during Covid 19 and lockdown, he got a lot of time to understand and think about his life. During this time, he also realized how he remained busy in his work for almost 3 decades and missed spending time with his family and children. He also got angry at himself for this mistake.
I was not able to give time to my family: Aamir Khan
Talking about this, Aamir Khan said- ‘And the people who are closest to me, who are my family, I have not been able to give them time in 30 years. Not 30 years, three weeks, three months or three years… 30 years. My mother has grown old. I don’t know how much time I have left with her. Anyway, there is no guarantee of life, but when it comes to our life, I realize that I am spending very little time with my mother.’
Aamir was filled with guilt
Aamir Khan further said that he was so filled with guilt for ignoring his family that he had decided to quit films completely. He also tried to sell his company, but could not find a buyer. But, his son Junaid did not want this. Aamir says- ‘That was a turning point in my life. At that time, I took a decision. Meaning, I told myself that I will leave the thing that keeps me away from my family. I decided that I will not do any film in my life now. I will not act, and will not direct at all. I want to move away from films.’
Ex-wife Kiran suggested not to quit films
‘Then I sat down and discussed this with my ex-wife Kiran and children, and they convinced me.’ Aamir says that his daughter Ira advised him to maintain a balance between his work life and personal life, and after this he continued his work. But, at the same time, he decided that he will maintain a balance between his personal life and professional life, so that he does not feel guilty.
