An uproar broke out in a college in Uttar Pradesh. There was an uproar over an event taking place in the college. Bollywood actress Mandakini had attended this event. A fashion show led by Muslim women in a college has reportedly angered Islamic organizations who have objected to the burqa being shown as a ‘fashion display item’. He also raised questions on the education system and warned the college of facing consequences if similar demonstrations take place in future. Fashion show ‘Splash 2023’ was organized at Shriram Group of Colleges in Muzaffarnagar on Sunday night, in which former Bollywood actress Mandakini and TV actor Radhika Gautam were the chief guests.
People’s sentiments got hurt because of this
A video from the show has gone viral, in which burqa-clad women can be seen confidently walking the ramp and greeting the audience with ‘adaab’. While the organizers of the show said it was a platform for Muslim women to showcase their creative side, Jamiat Ulama district convenor Maulana Mukarram Qasmi took strong objection to it. Claiming that burqa is not an object of fashion display. Qasmi said that such action targets a specific religion, which can hurt the sentiments of the Muslim community. He warned that if such an event is organized in future, legal action will be taken.
College and students’ side
India Today report said that the students said that the only motive behind this was that burqa can also be fashionable and not just a garment worn at home. On this whole matter, the students and the college say that the motive behind this was not to hurt anyone, but they wanted to show that the meaning of fan can be different for Muslim women.

Mandakini appreciated
Meanwhile, actress Mandakini appreciated the show’s ‘Beti Bachon, Beti Padhao’ theme and said that girls should be educated and empowered. She requested parents to let women choose the field they want to pursue and also said that the family should motivate them.
