‘3 Idiots’ and ‘Munna Bhai MBBS’.
The film ‘Dinky’ directed by Raj Kumar Hirani is in the news these days. The film has not only received good critics’ ratings but also made strong box office earnings. The pairing of Raj Kumar Hirani and Shahrukh Khan is being discussed since the release of ‘Dinky’. Now recently it has been revealed that Aamir Khan was not the first choice for ‘3 Idiots’ and Sanjay Dutt for ‘Munna Bhai MBBS’ but Raj Kumar Hirani wanted to cast Shahrukh Khan in both these films. Despite negotiations and complete preparation, Shahrukh Khan could not be a part of both the films. King Khan himself has shared the reason why this happened.
Couldn’t work in ‘Munna Bhai MBBS’
In a recent interview, Shahrukh Khan recalled, ‘I still remember, I was shooting a scene for ‘Devdas’ and this gentleman came and said, ‘I have a script’ and I said, ‘Okay, let’s meet the day after tomorrow, I said that I will do your next film. He said, ‘You didn’t listen to this script.’ I said, ‘I like the title, it’s a great title, ‘Munna Bhai MBBS’. We had to do that film, we kept thinking about it for six-seven months. Shahrukh Khan further tells that suddenly he got injured and had to undergo spinal surgery and the doctors did not know when he would recover from it.
Left ‘3 Idiots’ for this reason
In the same interview, he made another revelation. Shahrukh shared that Rajkumar Hirani approached him again with ‘3 Idiots’, but that time King Khan had a time problem. Talking about this, Shahrukh Khan said, ‘We worked on the script, we did the casting together, but there was a problem of timing. One of my films got delayed and I was hit by another injury. In such a situation I had to refuse. It was a very ambitious film. In such a situation, Shahrukh Khan could not do these two films of Raj Kumar Hirani even if he wanted to.
