If cholesterol is high then eat eggs in this manner, otherwise your health may deteriorate.

Egg is an important part of our lifestyle. Most people like to eat boiled eggs or egg omelette for breakfast. Actually, egg is a storehouse of nutrients. Healthy cholesterol is found in it. This is the reason why people who already have high cholesterol level in their body hesitate in eating eggs or anything made from it.

It is very important for you to understand that not all types of cholesterol are bad or harmful for the body. Instead of completely excluding eggs from your diet due to fear of cholesterol, you should be aware of its benefits and disadvantages. Also, you should know that when the cholesterol level in the body is increased then in what way would it be better to eat eggs?

Are there two types of cholesterol?

There are two types of cholesterol – low-density lipoprotein (LDL) or ‘bad’ cholesterol, and high-density lipoprotein (HDL), or ‘good’ cholesterol. Increased LDL cholesterol in your blood can cause plaque to form in your arteries or veins. Due to which the risk of cardiovascular diseases (CVD) increases. Over time, plaque starts accumulating in the arteries, due to which blood circulation is greatly affected. Due to which the risk of heart attack or stroke increases. On the contrary, HDL cholesterol helps in removing cholesterol that obstructs blood circulation, thereby reducing the risk of heart diseases.

Eggs contain both good and bad cholesterol.

When it comes to eggs, they contain both LDL and HDL cholesterol. According to WebMD, one large egg contains about 186 mg of cholesterol, which is in the whole yolk. However, it is important to note that dietary cholesterol, including eggs, does not have much effect on blood cholesterol levels in most people.

What does research say?

According to a research published in ‘Journal Nutrients’, eating eggs had very little effect on the cholesterol of most of the participants. According to a research published in the ‘American Journal of Clinical Nutrition’, data from 50 countries involving more than 170,000 individuals was examined. The findings showed that there was no significant association between egg consumption and cholesterol levels, mortality or major cardiovascular events. The relationship between dietary cholesterol and blood cholesterol is complex and varies from person to person.

Eggs provide valuable nutrients like protein, vitamins and minerals, including choline for the brain and compounds in the yolk for eye health. So instead of removing eggs from the diet, doctors tried to strike a balance between the nutritional benefits and cholesterol present in eggs. This effort was made so that we know what is the right way to eat eggs.

This is the right way to eat eggs

Choose healthy cooking methods like boiling, boiling, steaming or baking instead of frying in butter to reduce fat. If you are concerned about cholesterol, eat cholesterol-free egg whites for protein. Eat food rich in nutrients. Mix eggs with vegetables for nutrients. Use olive oil for cooking.
