Like knees and hips, now elbow replacement will be done in Delhi AIIMS, know everything about it

Delhi AIIMS in collaboration with IIT Delhi has chosen a good option for elbow replacement. According to Ravi Mittal, head of the bone department of AIIMS, elbow replacement is done in those patients whose elbow has been injured in a serious injury or accident. Or he is not working properly due to arthritis. Everything for elbow replacement in India comes from abroad. Its price is Rs 2 lakh. But this also comes with the problem that the implants coming from abroad do not fit the Indians.

Material testing has been completed

AIIMS Delhi in collaboration with IIT Delhi has developed a cheap implant. The surgery can be done easily at a low cost i.e. 30 thousand rupees. Funding has been received for this research from ICMR. According to Dr. Bhavuk Garg, Orthopedic Surgeon of AIIMS, the material testing and fatigue testing of this implant has been completed.

Materials and fatigue testing mean that this artificial elbow can bend comfortably anywhere. Through this, weight can be lifted easily. A machine of FATIGUE TESTING of IIT has also been revealed in which weight up to 2.5 kg can be lifted with artificial elbow. This surgery will not be performed on children. And this surgery will not be done even for those people who are older.

Testing has been done on dead people

This implant made of titanium has been tested on dead people by CADEVAR, it has been checked whether its fitting is correct or not. It has been replaced with an artificial joint. The lifeless elbow can be easily replaced with a new implant. It may take 2 years for it to be completely launched in the market.
