According to the Israeli Health Ministry, cases of monkeypox are increasing in Israel. A statement has been issued by the ministry in which it has been told that cases of monkeypox are continuously increasing in Israel. According to news agency Xinhua report, 2 suspected cases have been reported to the Israel Medical Association. Its initial signs were fever and blisters. This is being said to be a symptom of monkeypox. For your information, let us tell you that in 2023, only one case of monkeypox was recorded in Israel, however, in 2022, 262 cases were reported.
What is monkeypox?
Also known as mpox, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) describes monkeypox as this, a rare disease caused by infection with the mpox virus. Monkeypox virus is part of the same family of viruses as variola virus, which causes smallpox. Symptoms of mpox are similar to those of smallpox, but milder, and mpox is rarely fatal. MPox is not related to chickenpox. The CDC divides the Mpox virus into two categories. Clad and clade. The mortality rate for clade type Mpox viruses is approximately 10%. Infections in the 2022–2023 outbreak are from clade II, or more specifically, clade IIb.
Clade IIb infections are rarely fatal. More than 99% of people suffering from this type of disease have a chance of survival. However, people with severely weakened immune systems, children under 1 year of age, people with a history of eczema, and people who are pregnant or breastfeeding may be more likely to become seriously ill or die.
Symptoms and signs of monkeypox
The CDC says people with the viral infection may develop a rash on the hands, legs, chest, face, mouth, or near the genitals, including the penis, testicles, labia, vagina, and anus. “The incubation period is 3-17 days. During this time the person does not have symptoms and may feel fine.
The rash must go through several stages, including scabbing, before it heals.
The rash may initially look like pimples or blisters and may be painful or itchy.
Symptoms of monkeypox can last for about two to four weeks. Here are some other common symptoms of mpox.
