45 Indians freed from the clutches of Russian army, 50 still trapped; Indian government trying to rescue them soon

45 Indian citizens who were illegally sent to the front of the Russia-Ukraine war have been safely rescued and freed from the Russian army. The Ministry of External Affairs gave this information on Thursday. The spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs said that 50 Indian citizens are still present in the war zone and efforts are being made to evacuate them safely. He said that the ministry is continuously working to ensure the release and safe return of these Indian citizens.

During Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Moscow, Russian President Vladimir Putin had assured that all Indian citizens illegally recruited in Russia will be released after removing them from the war front. After this visit of Prime Minister Modi, the release of Indians illegally recruited in the Russian army has now started.

Russia has admitted that some Indian citizens were misled and recruited into the army and sent to the war zone. After the Indian government’s continuous efforts in this direction, they are now being rescued. The Foreign Ministry has also said that all possible efforts are being made to evacuate all the Indian citizens who are currently in the war zone as soon as possible.

According to government sources, the human trafficking network, which stretched from New Delhi to Tamil Nadu, used social media platforms and local agents to lure people to Russia by promising lucrative jobs etc. However, after reaching Russia, the victims’ passports were taken away and they were trained in combat roles before being deployed on the front. About a hundred Indian nationals fell prey to this trap. At least four Indians have also been killed in the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Police in India have arrested at least four people involved in this job racket.
