A senior official of Adani Group’s cement manufacturing company Ambuji Cement was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly bribing an IAS officer in Odisha. According to officials of the vigilance team, a man reached the office of Bargarh district collector Aditya Goyal on Wednesday. During this, he presented a bouquet of flowers and a packet of sweets to the officer.
According to the official, the collector got suspicious and instructed his peon to open the packet. Four bundles of 500 rupee notes were found in the packet. He was then taken into custody and the vigilance officials were informed about it.
“Then the vigilance team reached there and seized the packet containing Rs 2 lakh cash. The person has been identified as Rambhav Gattu, Chief Construction Officer (East) of Ambuja Cement, Chhattisgarh,” the official said.
He said that a case has been registered against the accused under Section 8/9/10 of Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 for attempting to induce a public servant. The accused has been arrested and is being produced in court.
