Article 370 will be restored; Omar Abdullah released a manifesto, made these promises to J&K

The National Conference announced 12 ‘guarantees’ in its manifesto released on Monday. These include the promise of restoration of Article 370 and statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. The manifesto also includes the implementation of the autonomy resolution passed by the then assembly in the year 2000. In June 2000, the National Conference government led by Farooq Abdullah passed a resolution in the assembly demanding restoration of the pre-1953 constitutional status of the state. However, the Union Cabinet headed by then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee rejected it.

Releasing the manifesto, party vice-president Omar Abdullah said the party is making only those promises that it can fulfil. He described the manifesto as the party’s vision document and roadmap for governance.

– 12 free LPG cylinders every year to economically weaker sections

– Rs 5,000 per month will be given to women heads of economically weaker section families

– Will provide 10 kg rice/flour per person every month

Will go to Supreme Court if Centre fails to restore statehood of Jammu and Kashmir: Omar

Abdullah on Monday said his party will approach the Supreme Court if the Centre fails to restore statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. “The reality is that we have to struggle to get our powers back. We have no doubt that we will succeed. At least, in the first attempt, we will restore statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. We just have to remind the Supreme Court that the Government of India has promised the apex court that statehood to Jammu and Kashmir will be restored,” Abdullah told reporters.

Omar Abdullah wants to destroy Jammu and Kashmir: BJP

Jammu and Kashmir BJP vice-president Yudhvir Sethi on Monday said, Omar Abdullah is trying to mislead the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He wants to destroy the Union Territory. On Article 370, he said, Omar Abdullah should speak the truth and accept that things that are gone will never come back.

Sethi said, until there is complete peace, terrorist attacks stop completely and Pakistan does not improve, Pakistan will be given a befitting reply. He also criticized the manifesto of the National Conference and called it ‘useless’. He said that the manifesto will push Jammu and Kashmir towards Pakistan.
