Putin’s statement comes at a time when Russian attacks on Ukraine have intensified. Two days ago, seven people were killed and 35 injured in overnight attacks in the Ukrainian city of Liv. The dead include a child and a medical worker and many are in critical condition. This attack comes a day after two ballistic missiles attacked a military academy and a nearby hospital in Poltava, Ukraine, in which more than 50 people were killed and more than 200 were injured. Ukrainian officials said that this attack is one of the deadliest attacks by Russia since the war began.

It is worth noting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently visited Ukraine after his visit to Russia. After this, US President Joe Biden spoke to Modi over the phone. John Kirby, National Security Communications Advisor at the White House, the official residence and office of the US President, was questioned about this conversation at a press conference on Wednesday and was asked whether he thinks India can play a role in ending the war. To this, he said that America welcomes any country that wants to try to help end the conflict in Ukraine.
