Pakistanis also sang Jana Gana Mana on Independence Day, the video is creating a buzz on social media

India celebrated its 78th Independence Day on 15 August with great pomp. Just a day before this, on 14 August, Pakistan celebrated its independence. People have posted many videos and pictures related to this on social media platforms. In one of these videos, a group of Indians are seen singing Jana Gana Mana. Some Pakistanis are also seen singing along with them. This video has gone viral on social media. A journalist working with Pakistani media outlet Arya News captured this moment on his mobile phone camera and posted it on Instagram.

Farid Qureshi wrote, “‘Divided by Britain, United in Britain’ Pakistanis and Indians celebrating Independence Day together. In this video, the audience is respecting the Indian national anthem. The previous video is of Pakistan’s national anthem which was respected by both Pakistanis and Indians alike at Piccadilly Circus and credit goes to singer Aamir Hashmi.”

In the video he shared, people holding the flags of both India and Pakistan are seen singing Jana Gana Mana. Some of them are also seen recording the moment.

Since being shared, the video has garnered over 21 lakh views and has gone viral. It has also garnered a lot of comments from people. While some said that the video won them over, others argued that it was done only for social media views. Some people reacted to the clip using heart emoticons.

One person wrote, “This is what educated people do.” Another said, “Now this is ironic. Celebrating Independence Day in the same country we got rid of.”

Pakistan celebrates its Independence Day on August 14, just a day before India. Qaumi Tarana is the national anthem of the country, written by Hafeez Jalandhari in 1952.
