Stone pelting, vandalism and arson during Ganesh immersion in Mandya, Karnataka

Mandya: The situation worsened after stones were pelted on a Ganesh Visarjan procession in Mandya district of Karnataka. Vehicles were set on fire and vandalised after a fight between two groups. The situation has been brought under control by deploying additional police force. However, tension persists in the area.

Nagamangala area incident

According to the information, this incident happened in the area of ​​Nagamangala in Mandya district. It is said that the youth of Badrikoppalu village were taking out a procession for Ganesh Visarjan. Meanwhile, when the Ganesh Visarjan procession was passing through the main road near a mosque in Nagamangala, stone pelting started on the procession from near the mosque.

Shops vandalized, vehicles burnt

After the stone pelting, the situation gradually started deteriorating and a clash broke out between two groups. The rioters vandalised shops and set vehicles on fire. The police tried to control the situation. Meanwhile, efforts were made to control the situation by calling additional forces from other districts.

Situation tense but under control

After the incident of stone pelting on Ganesh Visarjan procession, people of one group went to the police station and protested and demanded immediate arrest of those responsible for this incident. Mandya SP is on the spot. Meanwhile, additional police force has been deployed in the district. Police has brought the situation under control. Still, tension remains in the area.
