Tourists enjoy snowfall in Sonamarg.
Srinagar: The Sonamarg tourist spot in Jammu and Kashmir received light snowfall for the second day on Friday, while the Meteorological Department has predicted improvement in the weather in the entire Union Territory. Giving information about this, officials said that after snowfall in the higher reaches of Kashmir and rain in the plains, the 3-week dry period in the valley ended on Thursday. He said that on Thursday there was snowfall in Gulmarg of North Kashmir, Sonamarg of Central Kashmir and other areas of central and high altitude. According to officials, there was light snowfall in Sonamarg in Ganderbal district on Friday morning.
‘It will be cloudy from 2nd to 10th December’
The weather department said it was partly cloudy at many places with light snowfall in Sonamarg and surrounding areas. He said that the weather will improve at most places by afternoon and the weather is likely to remain dry further. Officials said that the valley is expected to be partly cloudy from December 2 to December 10, due to which the minimum temperature will drop by 3 to 5 degrees. According to the Meteorological Department, night temperatures have increased at many places in the valley but the mercury reached below zero in Gulmarg on Thursday night.
Temperature below 0 degree in Gulmarg
The minimum temperature in Srinagar, the capital of Jammu and Kashmir, was recorded at 4.5 degrees Celsius, the minimum temperature in Qazigund was 2.2 degrees Celsius, the minimum temperature in Pahalgam was 0.5 degrees Celsius and the mercury in Gulmarg was minus 1.8 degrees Celsius.
