Stone pelting during immersion of Ganesh idol in Davanagere
An incident of stone pelting has been reported during the immersion of the idol of Lord Ganesha in Davanagere, Karnataka. However, the police present on the spot took control of the situation. Actually, on Wednesday evening, when the procession of immersion of Venkatabhavi Ganpati was passing near Chamrajpet Circle, stone pelting started there. Stone pelting was done from both sides. According to the police, this incident of stone pelting continued for about 3 minutes, after which some people from both the communities stopped this incident by persuading. The policemen present on the spot took immediate action and controlled the situation and made way for the procession of Lord Ganesha to move forward, after which Lord Ganesha was immersed.

Let us tell you that after the incident of stone pelting, the police increased the deployment of police force as a precaution. There is also a discussion on imposing prohibitory orders in the area. The accused responsible for this incident are being identified. According to the police, every year the procession of Lord Ganesha used to pass through this route. No one was disturbed. But on Wednesday, some people from both the communities commented against each other on social media, due to which this incident was seen. Regarding this, Davanagere SP Uma Prashant said that the program of Venkatbhavi Ganesh Visarjan was fixed. Everything was going well, when the procession reached near Chamaraj Pet Circle, stone pelting took place after two-three minutes. The police present on the spot immediately controlled the situation.

SP said that the immersion of Ganpati has been completed. We are investigating who actually threw the stones. Police teams are working on this. The situation is completely under control. All the policemen present there have been given the task of finding out who are behind this. We are planning to impose prohibitory orders. We have discussed this with the DC. He said, it seems that inflammatory speech was posted on social media, this could be the reason behind this stone pelting incident. People are being identified who tried to spoil the atmosphere. Let us tell you that every year Venkatbhavi Ganpati procession passes through this route. This year also permission was given for the same route. But some anti-social elements tried to spoil the atmosphere.
