World Test Championship Points Table: Pakistan cricket is not having good days. After the crushing defeat in the ICC World Cup 2023, the Pakistani team is currently playing a Test series against Australia. The Pakistani team also lost the first match of the three-match series badly. Even after this, bad news did not leave the team. Now the Pakistani team has suffered another big blow. ICC has fined the Pakistani team due to sloover rate. After this, the Pakistani team has also suffered a loss in the points table of the World Test Championship. At present, Team India is at number one, while Pakistani team is at number two, but the gap between India and Pakistan has now increased.
ICC fines Pakistani team due to sloover rate
The Pakistani team has been fined 10 percent of their match fee and deducted two points from their total in the ICC World Test Championship. Pakistan slipped to No. 2 in the World Test Championship standings after a massive 360-run defeat in the first Test and the penalty meant their percentage dropped from 66.67 to 61.11. According to Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct which deals with minimum over-rate offences, players are fined five per cent of their match fees for every over their team fails to bowl in the stipulated time. Additionally, as per Article 16.11.2 of the ICC World Test Championship Playing Conditions, a team is penalized one point for every over bowled short. As a result, two World Test Championship points have been deducted from Pakistan’s total points. The second Test of the three-match series will begin in Melbourne on Boxing Day, while the third Test will be played in Sydney from January 3 to 7.
Here is the latest status of ICC WTC points table
If we look at the points table of ICC WTC i.e. World Test Championship, Team India has again reached the number one position. The Indian team has played two matches so far, out of which it has won one, while the other match ended in a draw. The winning percentage of the Indian team is 66.67. After the defeat against Australia, Pakistan’s winning percentage also remained the same. But now after the ICC fine, Pakistan’s winning percentage has come down from 66.67 to 61.11. Whereas New Zealand team is currently in third place.
New Zealand has played two Tests so far, out of which it has won one and lost one. Its winning percentage is 50 and Bangladesh is also at number four with 50 percent win. Whereas Australia team is currently at number five after winning three out of six matches and losing two matches. The team’s winning percentage is 41.67. Now, when the first Test match between India and South Africa will start from 26th December, from the same day the teams of Pakistan and Australia will enter for the second Test match, after that there will be even more ups and downs in this points table, which will be interesting.
