Mohammed Hafeez And Shahid Afridi
The Pakistani team could not perform well in the ODI World Cup 2023. The team had to face defeat in four consecutive matches in the group stage itself. After this the team could not even qualify for the semi-finals. This was the first time in the history of the ODI World Cup that the Pakistani team had lost four consecutive matches. After poor performance, Pakistan captain Babar Azam left the captaincy of all three formats. In his place, Shan Masood was made the captain in Test and Shaheen Afridi in T20. Now another big change has happened. Let us know about it.
This player got a big responsibility
Former cricketer Mohammad Hafeez has been made the director of the Pakistani team in place of Mickey Arthur. He has emerged as the most influential personality in Pakistan cricket. He will go on Australian tour with the Pakistani team and the coaching staff will be made only after his consultation. Hafeez was a part of the PCB’s technical committee, but he resigned from it before the ODI World Cup.
After becoming the director of the Pakistani team, he will not be seen in action as a player. They participate in many leagues including Pakistan Super League and terminating those contracts can also lead to financial loss. Hafeez had suggested to PCB Chief Zaka Ashraf to appoint Shan Masood as the Test captain. PCB will announce new coaching staff against Australia and New Zealand.
Played all three formats for Pakistan
Mohammad Hafeez has played cricket in all three formats for Pakistan. He has played 55 Tests, 218 ODIs and 119 T20 matches for Pakistan and scored 12,780 runs with the bat. While doing wonders in bowling, he has taken 253 wickets. Hafeez was also a part of the Pakistani team that won the Champions Trophy in 2017.
