Together, these two also made the biggest partnership for the sixth wicket in T20 International. So far, this has happened only three times when there has been a partnership of more than 100 runs for the sixth wicket. For the first time in the year 2010, Australia’s Michael Hansi and Cameron White added unbeaten 101 runs for the sixth wicket against Sri Lanka. After this, two batsmen from PNG together made a partnership of 115 runs against Singapore in the year 2022. Now this record has been broken by Rutherfort and Russell together.
West Indies scored 220 runs in 20 overs
There was a partnership of 139 runs for the sixth wicket between Sherfane Rutherford and Andre Russell. This is the first time against Australia that such lower order batsmen have together added more than 100 runs. When West Indies’ 20 overs were completed, West Indies’ score was 220 runs. Perhaps no one would have even thought about this. Apart from the half-centuries scored by these two, Australia’s Adam Zampa spent 50 more runs in bowling. Gempa gave 65 runs in four overs and got only one success.
