Team captain Babar Azam, who is surrounded by criticism due to Pakistan’s poor performance in the ODI World Cup, is facing a lot of trolling. Pakistan, which is almost out of the race for the semi-finals in the World Cup, has to play its last league stage match against England. Only if they win this match by at least 287 runs, their team will be able to qualify for the semi-finals. Otherwise they will be completely out of the race for the semi-finals and the New Zealand team will get entry into the semi-finals. Babar is being targeted for not taking his team to the semi-finals.

Babar targeted former players

Babar has scored 282 runs in eight innings but his poor strike rate of 82.69 has drawn severe criticism from fans and former players. Speaking to the press before the match against England, Babar tried to silence his critics and explained his future plans. Babar said in the pre-match press conference on Friday that it is very easy to give opinions on TV. If anyone wants to give advice, call me directly, my number is known to everyone. With this statement, Babar Azam has targeted those former players who have criticized Babar on Pakistani news channels in the last few days.

Babar’s captaincy has also come under question due to the team’s poor performance in the World Cup as Pakistan failed to defend a score of more than 270 against Afghanistan and South Africa at the M Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Former players Shoaib Malik and Moeen Khan hinted at a decline in Babar’s form due to the added pressure of captaincy. But the current world No. 2 ODI batsman revealed that he is not feeling the pressure of captaincy and it is not affecting his performance on the field.

What did Babar say about his performance?

Babar Azam has clearly said that I have been captaining my team for the last three years and I have never felt like this. It’s just because I didn’t perform as I should have in the World Cup, that’s why people are saying I’m under pressure. Which I am not. Babar said that I don’t think I was under any pressure because of this or I felt anything different. I try to give my best in the field while fielding. While batting, I think about how I should score runs and help the team win.
