Team India: The Indian cricket team has been in search of a perfect fast bowling unit for the last several years. This is why the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had taken a big decision while announcing its central contract at the end of last month. Where five players were given fast bowling contracts. This is the first time that such a contract has been included by BCCI.

The names of these five players included Akash Deep, Vijaykumar Vishak, Umran Malik, Yash Dayal and Vidwath Kawerappa. When BCCI had announced such a contract on February 28, it did not give much information on this matter. Now the question was, what benefits will these players get from BCCI.

Players will get special benefits

According to the report of Cricketbuzz, it has been learned that these five fast bowlers will have full access to go to the National Cricket Academy (NCA), let us tell you that this right is available only to the players with central contract. Now these five bowlers will be able to train, rehab and use other facilities at the academy without any cost. They can be insured by NCA. As per NCA rules, non-contracted players can also use its facilities, but only on the recommendation of their respective state boards. Apart from this, the state board will also be required to bear the expenses of that player.

How big is the need for this contract?

After this special decision of BCCI, bowlers having fast bowling contracts will no longer depend on their state board. Umran Malik, Akash Deep Singh, Vijaykumar Vishak Kawerappa, Yash Dayal and Kawerappa can go straight to NCA like any other centrally contracted player. The purpose behind starting this new contract is to prepare the bench strength of fast bowlers for the Indian team.

With bowlers facing frequent injuries due to heavy cricket matches, the team selectors and the BCCI felt the need to create a pool of players readily available to step into the national team at any time. This is the reason why BCCI took this step this time. BCCI has not announced any salary for these players. However, there is speculation that the retainership for these bowlers could be at par with that of C grade players, which is Rs 1 crore as per the contract issued last year.
