Two days before the start of IPL 2024, i.e. on Wednesday, March 20, Gujarat Titans made changes in their squad and released the name of Sandeep Warrier. Sandeep will replace Shami in IPL 2024. Veteran Indian fast bowler Shami recently successfully underwent surgery for his right heel problem and is currently recovering. Sandeep Warrier, who played in his place, has played 5 IPL matches so far. Gujarat Titans have included him in their squad for Rs 50 lakh. If we take a look at Sandeep’s IPL record, he has taken only two wickets in 5 matches. However, Warrior has not got many opportunities in IPL. He has played in IPL for KKR. Apart from this, he has also been a part of Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore. He plays for Kerala in domestic cricket.

This time Gujarat Titans will play under the leadership of new captain Shubman Gill. Gill will be under pressure not only for batting but also for captaincy. In such a situation, the absence of an experienced bowler Shami will definitely be missed in the team. Shami was the leading wicket-taker of the season in IPL 2023.
