WPL 2024: Women’s Premier League starts from today. Fans are eagerly waiting for this tournament. The first match of the tournament is to be played in Bengaluru. Where the opening match is to be played between Mumbai Indians led by Harmanpreet Kaur and Meg Lanning and Delhi Capitals. Tickets for the Bengaluru leg also opened about a week ago and were in good demand.
BCCI made a big announcement
Meanwhile, BCCI has announced free entry for the first 500 women in a good sign ahead of the first match of the season. The official Twitter handle of WPL confirmed the development on the match day. Free entry will be allowed from the P3 Annexe stand as the opening ceremony will begin at 6:30 pm IST and the first ball will be played at 7:30 pm. The opening ceremony is going to be a big one with the presence of people like Shahrukh Khan, Varun Dhawan, Kartik Aryan, Sidharth Malhotra to name a few. Even this match is loaded with star players as last season’s finalists face each other at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
Apart from Kaur and Lanning, many other players like Amelia Kerr, Marijne Kapp, Shafali Verma, Jemimah Rodrigues Nat Sciver Brunt will take the field. Fans must be wanting to see these players playing together. Both teams will be eyeing a great start to the tournament. In terms of head-to-head record, MI have won two out of three matches including the final last year, but DC is also a strong unit and can give MI a tough fight.
