Kolkata Knight Riders IPL 2024: Kolkata Knight Riders won the IPL trophy twice under the captaincy of Gautam Gambhir. KKR team could not perform well under the captaincy of Nitish Rana in IPL 2023. The team could win only 6 out of 14 matches. For this reason, in IPL retention, KKR retained only 13 out of 25 players and released 12 players. Now even before IPL 2024, a big good news has come for the KKR team. One of the retained players is performing well in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and this player has achieved a great feat. Let us know about it.
This player performed brilliantly
Kolkata Knight Riders’ star spinner Varun Chakraborty has performed brilliantly in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Varun, while playing for Tamil Nadu, bowled brilliantly against Nagaland. Nagaland players could not understand his balls and were out early. Varun gave 9 runs in his 5 overs and took 5 wickets. Apart from this, he also bowled three overs of maidens in his spell. It was because of him that Tamil Nadu team was successful in winning the match. Varun’s performance before IPL 2024 might have ended the tension of KKR management regarding spin bowling. Varun’s return to form even before IPL 2024 will be no less than a joy for KKR.
Showed strength in IPL
Varun Chakraborty has played 56 matches in IPL and has also taken 62 wickets. Taking 5 wickets for 20 runs has been his best performance. He has variation, due to which batsmen are not able to read his balls properly and get dodged. Varun took 20 wickets in 14 matches for KKR in IPL 2023.
Tamil Nadu won
Thanks to the dangerous bowling of Varun Chakraborty, Nagaland team was all out for just 69 runs against Tamil Nadu. Tamil Nadu achieved the target of 70 runs without losing any wicket. Apart from Varun, R Sai Kishore took 3 wickets, T Natarajan and Sandeep Warrier took 1 wicket each in the match. It was only because of the excellent bowling of these players that the Nagaland team could not score a big score.
