Yash Dhull has been removed from the captaincy of Delhi, hours after suffering a crushing defeat at the hands of Puducherry in the opening match of Ranji Trophy. Senior batsman Himmat Singh will now lead Delhi in the match against Jammu and Kashmir from January 12. Dhull, who was the captain of the Under-19 World Cup winning team, was given the command of Delhi in December 2022. He made his debut in February 2022. So far he has scored 1185 runs at an average of 43.88. During the nine-wicket loss against Puducherry, Yash Dhull was able to score only two and 23 runs. This 21-year-old batsman had also captained Delhi in limited overs cricket earlier this season.

Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) joint secretary Rajan Manchanda told PTI that Yash is a talented player but is not in form right now. We want him to perform well as a batsman and hence we relieved him of the burden of captaincy. Himmat is our senior player and he has performed well for the team. He will be the captain of the team.
Himmat Singh has captained before also
Last year, in the absence of Yash Dhull, under the leadership of Himmat, Delhi had registered a big win over Mumbai. Himmat made his debut in 2017 and has played 22 first-class matches so far. Fast bowlers Navdeep Saini and Ishant Sharma will not play in the next match against Jammu and Kashmir. Saini has been selected in the India A team while it is learned that Ishant will be available only for the matches to be held in Delhi.
