Will miss WPL due to cancer

Australian bowler Lauren Cheatle will not be able to debut in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) due to the removal of skin cancer from her neck. The left arm fast bowler was operated on on Wednesday. Cheetal was picked by Gujarat Giants in the December WPL auction but will now miss the tournament, which came as a huge blow to the team right before the tournament. The first match of WPL is to be played from 23 February. Gujarat team will play its first match against Mumbai Indians from 25th February.

Apart from WPL, Lauren Cheatle will also remain out of the remaining season of the Women’s National Cricket League.
