Pandya told his ordeal on not returning to WC

Hardik Pandya: Team India’s star all-rounder Hardik Pandya is going to make a comeback in competitive cricket from IPL 2024. He will play as captain for Mumbai Indians this season. Let us tell you that Hardik Pandya was injured during the World Cup 2023 played in India. Due to which he had to be out of this big tournament. Hardik Pandya has now made a big revelation about that injury.

This is how Pandya’s injury increased during the World Cup.

All-rounder Hardik Pandya had resorted to drastic measures like taking multiple injections and getting blood clots removed from his ankle in a bid to regain fitness for the World Cup matches last year. But this worsened the injury and the Indian player had to sit out of the ODI World Cup. Pandya limped off the field after bowling his first over in India’s fourth match against Bangladesh during the World Cup. He could not return to the team after this.

Hardik Pandya made a big revelation

Hardik Pandya told Star Sports that I got injections at three different places on my heel and due to swelling I had to get blood drawn from my ankle. I didn’t want to give up. I always want to give my best for the team. If there is even one percent possibility of returning to the team, I try my best. Pandya said that he knew that working hard could yield adverse results. He took this risk to return to the team during the World Cup played on home soil. He said that I knew that if I tried too hard to recover from the injury, I could get injured for a long time. While I was trying my best, the injury flared up again and turned into an injury that would take three months to recover from.

The pain of not playing the entire World Cup

Hardik Pandya was confident of returning to the team in five days but it was not possible. He said that when I came off the field after the injury, I informed the team that I will be back in five days. I tried to come back for 10 days, took painkillers to come back and rejoin the team. But this was a different kind of injury and very few people knew about it. Pandya said that the burden of not being able to play fully in the World Cup will always be on his heart. He said that the biggest pride for me is to play for the country. I wanted to play the World Cup on home ground at any cost. So, I wanted to be there for them.

Will take command of Mumbai Indians for the first time

Pandya had led Gujarat Titans to the IPL title under his captaincy in 2022. Now he has another big responsibility. He has to lead the five-time champions Mumbai Indians in IPL 2024. On joining his old team, he said that from my journey as a young boy in Baroda to Mumbai, this city has taught me to move forward, I have humility. And has created belligerence. This city has played a very important role in making me the kind of cricketer I am. Mumbai always challenges you to be better and now I have returned home after two years with the IPL.
