ICC released three names for Player of the Month
The International Cricket Council has nominated Australian team captain Pat Cummins, Bangladesh’s star bowler Taijul Islam and New Zealand’s explosive batsman Glenn Phillips for Player of the Month. All these three players performed amazingly last month and ended the year in good form.
Pat Cummins gave a stellar performance
The year 2023 was very special for Australian team captain Pat Cummins. He won the ICC World Test Championship and ICC Cricket World Cup titles as captain and now he is also close to becoming Player of the Month. He played well in the recent Test series played against Pakistan. He took the maximum of 19 wickets in the three-match Test series, of which 2 Tests were played in December.
Taijul Islam-Glenn Phillips showed strong play
The month of December was also very good for Taijul Islam. He performed well in the Test series against New Zealand. He won the match by taking 4 wickets in the first innings of the first test and 6 wickets in the second innings. At the same time, took five wickets in the second test also. He was named Player of the Series for taking the most wickets (15). Glenn Phillips also left his mark in this test series. Glenn Phillips took five wickets in the first match against Bangladesh. At the same time, in the first innings of the second test, Phillips took 3 wickets for 31 runs and restricted Bangladesh to 172 runs. After this he also played an inning of 46 runs.
These players were nominated for Women’s Player of the Month
India’s Jemimah Rodrigues, Deepti Sharma and Zimbabwe’s Precious Maranj have been nominated for Women’s Player of the Month. 41-year-old Precious Maranj was the highest wicket-taker in the T20 World Cup 2024 Qualifier with 3 wickets. Meanwhile, Jemimah Rodrigues scored half-centuries in India’s Test wins over England and Australia this month. On the other hand, Deepti Sharma was the player of the match in India’s Test win over England. Both these players also performed brilliantly against Australia.
