England opener Ben Duckett believes that England’s score of 246 runs in the first innings was good, but he did not expect Indian openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma to bat aggressively as soon as they started the innings on the first day of the first Test. Till stumps, India had scored 119 runs after losing one wicket and Jaiswal is present at the crease after scoring 76 runs. Jaiswal made a partnership of 80 runs with Rohit in just 12.2 overs.

Duckett said in the press conference after the match that I thought we were on a good score. This was a tricky pitch for the first day on which the ball was spinning continuously from the beginning. Stokes played brilliantly. I would say that let the third, fourth day come and if the pitch becomes difficult to bat on, then his innings could have won the match.
Duckett credited the Indian openers for getting off to a great start but also felt it was a sign of the pitch gradually deteriorating. Duckett said he gets credit. He played well and was very aggressive. They don’t always play like this. Therefore, his playing like this shows that he probably feels that this pitch will get worse in future. Duckett defended his teammates’ sweep and reverse sweep shots, saying it was not a sign of carelessness. “We weren’t careless today,” Duckett said. I thought we played well and players who normally play at a strike rate of 150 rotated the ball well.
