In this match, Harmanpreet (13th, 26th minute) converted two penalty corners while Lalit Upadhyay (42nd minute) and vice-captain Hardik Singh (49th minute) were the other goal scorers for India. The Indian captain opened India’s account by beating the French goalkeeper with his powerful drag flick in the 13th minute of the match. He doubled the team’s lead by converting another penalty in the second quarter. The ends changed after the intermission but the Indian dominance continued in the match.
India’s next two matches will be played by these teams
Lalit converted a penalty corner conversion to put India ahead 3-0. With Hardik’s field goal in the last quarter of the match, India took a 4-0 lead and put the match out of France’s reach. Apart from India and France, teams from host South Africa and Netherlands are participating in this week-long tournament. Team India will play its next match against France on 24 January. India’s match will be played against South Africa on 26 January.
