India vs South Africa

The third match of the three-match T20 series being played between India and South Africa will be played on December 14 at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg. While the first match of this series was canceled due to rain, Africa won the second match by 5 wickets as per Duckworth-Lewis rules. After this, while the Indian team is eyeing to level the series at 1-1, Africa would like to win it by 2-0. However, before this important match, the South African team management has sent its two important fast bowlers Gerald Coetzee and Marco Jansen to play first-class matches, in which they will prepare themselves for the upcoming Test series.

Coetzee and Yansen may be out of ODI series also

After the three-match T20 series against India, South Africa also has to play a three-match ODI series from December 17. According to the news of ESPN Cricinfo, while Gerald Coetzee and Marco Jansen have been released to play first-class matches before the third T20 match, both these fast bowlers will no longer be seen playing in the ODI series. South Africa can include left-arm fast bowler Nandre Berger in the playing 11 in the last T20 match of the series, who has not yet made his debut in any format of international cricket. Apart from this, Ontiel Bartman may also get a chance to play.

African team’s worries increased due to injuries to important fast bowlers

Before the two-match Test against India starting from December 26, South African team’s two important fast bowlers Lungi Ngidi and Kagiso Rabada are seen struggling with fitness problems. Ngidi was ruled out due to an ankle injury just before the T20 series, while Rabada is still not fully fit after the injury suffered in the World Cup 2023. In such a situation, to fully prepare Gerald Coetzee and Marco Jansen before the Test series, the South African team management has decided to give first-class matches to both these players.
