African player Kwan Mafaka missed breaking this record by just 2 wickets. Till now, the record for taking the most wickets in a single edition of the Under-19 World Cup is in the name of Bangladesh’s Enamul Haq Jr., who took 22 wickets in the 2014 edition. Mafaka has definitely made a record in the Under-19 World Cup, in which he has become the player who has taken the maximum number of 5 wicket hauls in a single edition. Mafaka has achieved this feat thrice in this World Cup, whereas before this only 4 players had managed to take 5 wicket hauls twice.
There could be a title match with Pakistan or Australia
While the Indian team has confirmed its place in the final of the Under-19 World Cup 2024, they may face either Australia or Pakistan in the final. The second semi-final match of the tournament between the two will be played on 8 February at Willsmore Park, Binoni. Both Australia and Pakistan have not lost a single match in this tournament so far.
