South Africa won it on the third day of the Centurion Test match against India. After defeating India by an innings and 32 runs in this match, they have now taken a 1-0 lead in this 2-match Test series. On the third day, the first innings of the African team ended at a score of 408, due to which they had achieved a huge lead of 163 runs compared to the first innings of India. After this, the African fast bowlers showed their magic and registered a big victory in the match by bowling out the Indian team’s second innings at a score of just 131. Nandre Berger took the maximum of 4 wickets in this innings for Africa.
Virat Kohli did not get anyone’s support from the other end
The Indian team also got a bad start in the second innings of the Centurion Test match, in which captain Rohit Sharma was bowled by Kagiso Rabada without opening the account. After this, on the score of 13, Team India got the second blow in the form of Yashasvi Jaiswal. From here, Virat Kohli along with Shubman Gill tried to control the innings a bit but just before tea time, Gill was bowled by Marco Janson after scoring 26 runs. After this, with the start of the last session of the day, a series of wickets falling from one side was seen. In this, Shreyas Iyer 6, KL Rahul 4, Ravichandran Ashwin 0, Shardul Thakur 2, Jasprit Bumrah 0 and Mohammed Siraj could manage to score only 4 runs. At the other end, a brilliant inning of 76 runs was seen from the bat of Virat Kohli, although he could not save the team from this shameful defeat.
Berger and Yanson together took 7 wickets
Left arm fast bowler Nandre Berger, playing his first Test in the second innings bowling for South Africa, performed brilliantly and took 4 wickets in which he made Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Ravichandran Ashwin and Mohammed Siraj his victims. Apart from this, Marco Jansen also managed to take 3 wickets, while Kagiso Rabada took 2 wickets. Now the second and last Test match of this series between the two teams will be played at the Newlands ground in Cape Town from January 3.
