IPL Trade Window: Now no player’s team will change, these are the rules

IPL 2024 News : The new season of the Indian Premier League i.e. IPL is just around the corner. The first match of this year will be played on 22 March. In the very first match, a match will be played between RCB under the captaincy of Faf Du Plessis and CSK under the captaincy of MS Dhoni. Fans are waiting for this match. Meanwhile, there is a lot of discussion about the trade of players in IPL. But let us tell you that this year no player will be able to change his team because its time is over. Let us tell you how players are traded in IPL and what are its rules.

Hardik Pandya’s team changed, from Gujarat Titans to Mumbai Indians again.

Captain Hardik Pandya, who led Gujarat Titans to the IPL title for the first time, has now again joined his old team Mumbai Indians. Now Hardik Pandya will be seen captaining MI in place of Rohit Sharma. When Hardik Pandya returned to Mumbai Indians, this deal was done under trade. Although players have been traded before also, but Hardik Pandya is a big player, hence it was discussed more.

What is the meaning of trade in IPL?

Trade of players in IPL means that a player goes to another team. Although there is an auction before every season of IPL, but when a player moves from one team to another with mutual consent without the auction, it is called trade. The special thing is that this trade can be done in two ways. Firstly, there is exchange of players. That means one team gives one of its players to the other team and the second team gives its player to the first team. On the other hand, if a team gives its player to another team and does not get any other player in return, then in that situation money is exchanged. The amount is paid as per the player’s worth.

When does IPL trade window open?

The trade window keeps opening and closing as per the rules of IPL. When the IPL season ends, one month after that, teams can trade players if they wish. It remains open until a week before the auction for the next season. But when one week is left for the auction date, it stops. After the auction, the trade window opens again. In this again players can be moved from here to there. But it stops again just a month before the start of the IPL season.

This time the trade window was open only till 22 February

This year’s IPL season will be played from March 22. That means the trade window was open only till 22 February. Now there is not much time left in IPL, so it is clear that now no player can change his team. The player will play with the team he is in. It is another matter that if a player gets injured then the team can remove him and add a new player. But the new incoming player could be the one who has given his name in the auction, but has not been bought. That means the unsold player can be a replacement. This has been happening this year as well as before. But fit players are not wandering around.
