After a stellar Test series with the bat against England, Yashasvi Jaiswal was on Tuesday named the ICC Player of the Month for February. Jaiswal, playing his first Test series in India, scored 712 runs in the series, which included two double centuries and three fifties. Jaiswal’s brilliant batting helped Team India hand England a stunning 4-1 win and Ben Stokes’ team suffered its first series defeat under his captaincy. Jaiswal has given a big statement after being selected ICC Player of the Month.

What did Jaiswal say?

After informing the young player about winning the ICC title, Jaiswal said that I am happy to receive the ICC award and I hope that I will get more such awards in the future. This is one of the best and this is my first five-match series. I enjoyed it, the way I played and the way it went and we won the series 4-1. It was an incredible experience with all my teammates and I enjoyed it.

Yashasvi Jaiswal reflected on the series against England and picked the double century in Rajkot as one of the moments he enjoyed. He said that I think when I celebrated my double century in Rajkot, I think that was something that I enjoyed and felt and I was living that moment.

Called this innings the best

After the double century in Rajkot, he became the third youngest batsman in the history of cricket after Sir Donald Bradman and former Indian cricketer Vinod Kambli to register two double centuries in the longest format. Jaiswal ended the month with impressive figures, scoring 560 runs at an average of 112 in three Test matches, which included 20 sixes. During the series, he also became the second fastest Indian to reach the 1000 Test run mark. Jaiswal won the ICC Player of the Month award, leaving behind New Zealand legend Kane Williamson and Sri Lankan opener Pathum Nissanka.
