A very disappointing performance was seen from the Pakistan cricket team in the ODI World Cup 2023. Under the captaincy of Babar Azam, the team could not even make it to the top-4. After which, with the team returning to the country, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has made many important changes in the team including the coaching staff. While Babar Azam left his captaincy in all three formats, former Pakistan player Mohammad Hafeez has been appointed as the new director of the team in place of Mickey Arthur, apart from this, now PCB has given another big responsibility to Hafeez.

Hafeez will be the head coach of the team on Australia and New Zealand tour

Pakistan team now has to go on a tour of Australia, where the team has to play a 3-match test series. This tour will start from December 14 with the first Test match to be played in Perth. Mohammad Hafeez, who had bid goodbye to international cricket last year, was earlier appointed as the new director of the team by the PCB, now Hafeez will be the head of the team for the 5-match T20 series to be played on the tour of Australia and New Zealand. Will also be seen playing the role of a coach.

Pakistan Cricket Board will also take advice from Mohammad Hafeez regarding the appointment of new coaching staff of the team. In the statement issued by Mohammad Hafeez on behalf of PCB, he said that I feel very honored to be given the post of Director of Pakistan Cricket Team and am also very excited about this new responsibility. I express my gratitude to PCB for trusting me.

Shan Masood will take over the responsibility of captaincy in the test series

After Babar Azam’s decision to step down from the captaincy of Pakistan cricket team in all three formats, while PCB has given the command of the team to Shan Masood in Test, Shaheen Shah Afridi will be seen fulfilling this responsibility in T20 format. At the same time, PCB has also made it clear that Shan will remain the captain of the team till the end of the third edition of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship.
