PCB extended its hands to ACC
Pakistan Cricket Board vs ACC: PCB co-hosted the Asia Cup in August-September this year. Pakistan had got the right to host the Asia Cup, but after the Indian team refused to tour Pakistan, it was organized on a hybrid model in Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Most of the matches of the tournament were played in Sri Lanka and 4 matches were played in Pakistan. But PCB has put a big demand before ACC regarding this tournament.
PCB extended its hands to ACC
The Pakistan Cricket Board has sought additional compensation from the Asian Cricket Council on the expenses of chartered flights between Pakistan and Sri Lanka during the Asia Cup. A reliable source in the PCB told PTI that the board has also sought additional compensation in addition to its share from the tournament hosting fees (about $2,50,000) as well as ticketing and sponsorship fees. The source said the PCB has sought compensation for other expenses like hiring chartered flights for the teams between Pakistan and Sri Lanka and other expenses like hotel and transportation charges. This amount was not included in the initial budget of the Asia Cup.
ACC rejected PCB’s demand
The ACC is not willing to pay additional expenses to the PCB as it believes that Pakistan had agreed to host the matches in Sri Lanka under the hybrid model in exchange for hosting four Asia Cup matches at home. The PCB had hired the services of a Sri Lanka-based company named Classic Travel for travel between Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Who was paid $281,000 to arrange four chartered flights.
Team India had won the title
In the final match of Asia Cup 2023, India defeated Sri Lanka by 10 wickets. In this match, Sri Lanka batted first and scored 50 runs. Chasing the target, the Indian team won the match by scoring 51 runs in 6.1 overs.
