Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will host the Champions Trophy in the year 2025, while before this important tournament, it will also host the Tri Series. Pakistan had earlier hosted the triangular series in 2004, after which it will host it again in its country after 20 years. During the ongoing ICC meeting in Dubai, the PCB Chairman, while talking to the heads of the boards of South Africa and New Zealand, took approval for their teams’ participation in this triangular series. After the attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team in 2009, international cricket was able to fully return to Pakistan in the year 2020. Earlier, when Pakistan hosted the Tri Series in its country in the year 2004, teams from Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe had participated in it.
This is a big success for PCB
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi said in a statement regarding hosting the tri-series that having this tri-series before the ICC Champions Trophy will help us in creating the atmosphere of a big tournament because this is the first ICC event to be held in Pakistan since 1996. There will be a tournament competition. The tri-series between Pakistan, South Africa and New Zealand is going to be very exciting for all of us because Pakistan is hosting such a tournament after a long time. Apart from this, PCB is very keen to host the ICC Champions Trophy in which the top-8 teams of world cricket are going to play.
New Zealand team will tour Pakistan in the month of April
T20 World Cup is to be organized in the month of June this year to be hosted by West Indies and America. Before this important tournament, Pakistan team will play a 5-match T20 series against New Zealand at home, the schedule of which has been announced by the PCB. In this, the first 3 matches of the series will be played on the grounds of Rawalpindi on 18, 20 and 21 April, while the fourth and fifth matches of the series will be played on the grounds of Lahore on 25 and 27 April.
