Prakhar Chaturvedi: The final match of BCCI’s domestic tournament Cooch Behar Trophy was played between the teams of Karnataka and Mumbai. This match was played at KSCA Nevule Stadium. Karnataka batsman Prakhar Chaturvedi created history in this match. He played an unbeaten inning of 404 runs. He faced 638 balls and hit 46 fours and three sixes. With this, he also became the first batsman to score 400 runs in the final of this tournament. On the basis of his innings, Karnataka declared its first innings at 890 runs. After this inning, he is being compared with the innings of great West Indies batsman Brian Lara. Let us tell you that Brian Lara is the only batsman to score 400 runs in an innings of Test cricket.

Prakhar Chaturvedi broke Yuvraj Singh’s 24 year old record with this innings. He has become the batsman who has played the biggest innings in the final of Cooch Behar Trophy, surpassing Yuvraj. Before Prakhar Chaturvedi, Yuvraj Singh had scored 358 runs against Bihar team in December 1999. Yuvraj played this innings in front of MS Dhoni. At the same time, Vijay Jol’s unbeaten 451 runs for Maharashtra against Assam in the 2011–12 season is the highest individual score in the tournament.

In this match, Karnataka won the toss and decided to field first. After this, Mumbai had scored 380 runs in the first innings. Yush Mhatre played an inning of 145 runs for Mumbai. But Prakhar Chaturvedi’s innings made this match one-sided. On the basis of his innings, Karnataka took a huge lead of 510 runs in the first innings and on the fourth day both the teams decided to settle for a draw. Karnataka was declared champion due to its lead in the first innings.
