Olympic medalist Indian female tennis player PV Sindhu had to face defeat in the second round of the singles event in the ongoing All England Championship in Birmingham. World No. 1 female badminton player Ann Se Young ended Sindhu’s journey here by defeating her in two consecutive sets in a match that lasted 42 minutes. This is PV Sindhu’s 7th defeat so far against the Korean player. In the first set of this match, Sindhu had to face defeat by 19-21 and then in the second set by 11-21.

Young took advantage of Sindhu’s mistakes

PV Sindhu was returning to the court through this championship after recovering from a knee injury. In the first round of the All England Championship, Sindhu faced German player Yvonne Lee, who suddenly withdrew in the middle of the match and then Sindhu entered the second round. Talking about the match with Se Young, Sindhu adopted the strategy of playing aggressively in which she was ahead 4-1 in the first set, but from here Se Young made a brilliant comeback and took advantage of Sindhu’s mistakes. At one point the score was at 19-20, after which the 22-year-old Korean player succeeded in winning the first set. In the second set, Se Young did not give Sindhu any chance to make a comeback and eliminated her from the second round by winning by a margin of 11-21. Till now, Sindhu has been able to win only once in her career against the current World No. 1 player Young, which she got in the Dubai Championships last year. Apart from this, Young has defeated him 7 times.

Lakshya Sen made it to the quarter finals

Badminton player Lakshya Sen, who won the gold medal in the Commonwealth Games, won 24-22, 11-21, 21 in a three-set match against world number-6 player Anders Antonsen in the men’s singles pre-quarterfinal match of the All England Badminton Championship. By winning by -14, they have confirmed their place in the quarter finals. Lakshya Sen had earlier played 4 matches against Danish player Anders Antonsen, out of which he won only 1, while lost 3.
