After finishing the tour of South Africa, the players of the Indian cricket team have now returned to the country. Now Team India has to play a 3-match T20 series against Afghanistan at home from January 11. This is going to be the last T20 series of the Indian team before the T20 World Cup 2024 to be held in West Indies and America in the month of June. For this reason, speculations are being made about the return of many senior players, in which apart from captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli can also be seen playing in this series, who will be playing in this format in international cricket after the T20 World Cup held in the year 2022. Have not even played the match, however, in such a situation, the problems of the Indian selectors definitely seem to be increasing.

Rohit and Kohli expressed their desire to play in this series

Even though the T20 series against Afghanistan has not been announced yet, but during the second Test match on the tour of South Africa, chief selector Ajit Agarkar had reached there and he had talked to both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli and both Has declared himself available. In this T20 series, both Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav will not be available for selection due to being unfit. In such a situation, if Rohit and Kohli return, it can definitely affect the balance of Team India, which may also require the intervention of BCCI Secretary Jay Shah. It is almost certain that Mohammad Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah will be given rest in this series, so that both the fast bowlers can remain completely fresh before the upcoming series against England.

Will chief selector Ajit Agarkar take a bold decision?

Regarding the return of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to the T20 team, a former chief selector in his statement to PTI said that if you have Rohit, Virat, Shubman, Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya in your top-5, then you have a left hand. Where is the batsman? Suppose you rest Kohli, then he will start a successful innings with Rohit, while Gill can be seen playing at number 3, but will chief selector Ajit Agarkar be able to take this bold decision. On the other hand, if both Rohit and Kohli return to the team, then the selectors may have to take a decision to drop Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ishan Kishan, because both of them are top order batsmen.
